Halloween Themed Baby Shower

We did a very small event at the Sausalito Yacht Club. It was a Halloween Themed Baby Shower. We worked with pumpkins that we glittered black & orange, and also dried branches that we spray painted high gloss black. This was the first time our studio worked with paper pom pom's from Pom Love and I have to tell you we are now a fan. We were looking for retro stickers and we found those at Martha Stewart Crafts & Michaels and my new love Party Cheap. We purchased all orange wrapped candy to keep the color palett strong on the candy table. Hope you enjoy. It's not everyday you find a client who wants their baby shower Halloween themed!

Comme des Garçons

Well today I was outside looking up at the clouds admiring how puffy they are; and for some reason Commes de Garcons Fall 2010 fashion show came racing into my head. I remember looking at these images a few months back thinking; how cool they would be as a wedding dress. Of course not for the traditional bride; but I could see some ladies with the right edge rocking these out. The tayloring and the cut is amazing. And WOW would I have fun putting together some flowers bouquets for these dresses. White peonies would be the way to go; but how fab would it be to be able to use cotton flower. It looks like I need to go hang out in front of the Art Institute to see if anyone is interested in getting married any time soon :)

Surfboards & Bridal Ribbon?

I'm loving these shoes from Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. The designers were inspired by surfbaords when the were making this collection. The shoes inspire me to look at bridal ribbon in a more high contrast way; and design the handle of the bouquet with much more texture.

Inspiration For The Month of April

Every month I have a focus and get inspired by something specific. Usually from the fashion industry. But this month; I really want to pay homage to the passing of one of my favorite artist/designers: Alexander McQueen. He was truly one of the most innovative avant garde designer to date. I always loved his sense of darkness that yet, still played to the somewhat romantic side. His passing was a HUGE loss for the fashion industry and the art world. Above are some of my favs from his last collection.

I'm Over Roses For Valentines Day

Yes it's the time a year again. Valentines Day. When everyone comes running to us Floral Designers in need of the best bouquet. Normal flowers just wont do this time of year. Everyone needs something over the top. Well instead of calling me about roses; it's time for me to educate some of you about my first choice...peonies. I love peonies because of the large diameter of the bud; and also because they are so loose and have a mind of their own. I love to cut them long and just let their heads bobble over. When done right, they look like you just picked them from the garden. Any girl would be in love with a bouquet of amazing peonies. Please be prepared to pay for these adorable cuties. At Le Fleur Couture, we are offering free delivery to Tiburon and Belvedere locations. All orders must be in by Friday February 12th, 2010. Kisses Gina Gallisa

Gotham Gardens

I know the holidays are here; and my opportunity to post dark and unusual things should have fallen in my October post. But me simply being; well me Gina. I must bring to your attention this dark yet chic arrangement by Gotham Gardens in NYC. I'm always in love with gray brazila and the white ranunculas; it's a play on morbid and organic chic. I hope you enjoy. And trust me more true holiday colors are on the way. I just love all things dark!

April Reed

When I was planning my wedding back in 2006. I came across April Reed and completely fell in love with her simplistic, yet stylish designs. But she was located in NY and I was in SF. My dream would be to put in touch a wonderful bride; with this amazing cake designer. I hope you enjoy her sinful images. I cant help but to think that she would be an amazing handbag or shoe designer as well. There's something about her cakes that also read like an accessory.

Noir Couture

Ahh, noir, my favorite! Some people are just too afraid to use it in their weddings and events. Or they use it wrong. I say if you're going to use black than go big or go home. Please enjoy some delightful images. Florals are artfool aka Matthew Robbins and Marth Stewart Weddings. Cake design is April Reed. Dresses are by Marchesa, Dolce Gabbana

Tre Chic of the Week: Chocolate & Marigold Pallet

I'm closing out the week with a color that use to make me cringe, marigold. But these two amazing creations by Amorology is making me rethink this color. Not sure if I'm just tired, but I'm loving these even more styled against the leather brown chair. I feel like I need to pour myself a glass of great scotch like Lagavulin and walk down the aisle with these fab fleurs. Doesnt scotch and these bouquets pair well together!

Those Brits Know It All

These vases from LSA International are making me want to max my credit cards. I'm loving the opague vases right now; and yes dont kill me because; I love black the most. But seriously these vases have a clean simple shape and the right perportions; which is always key in great flower arranging. But get ready to pay ero pricing because these bad asses are in the U.K

Le Fleuriste: Sandra De Ovando

Today I'm adding Mexican designer Sandra De Ovando to my list of Le Fleuriste. She has a love of bold colors. Her arrangements are elegant and artsy. When you count Armani, Gucci, Hermes, and the Gansevoort and W hotels as clients, you know you’re in a special class of haute-floral design. Working with flowers since her childhood in Mexico, Sandra De Ovando has grown her NYC West Village floral boutique, Ovando, into a work of art that has attracted a clientele that reads as a who's who of the fashion industry. Her arrangements start at $150. I'm truly lusting over the arrangement second to the bottom. A lush arrangemet of Gloriousa Lilys, and Red Peonies. Just a little side note about peonies, they are one of my favorite fleur due to their every-changing form.
